NATURE CAMPS
Since 1996, FITaos has been delivering high-quality outdoor education experiences for Taos youth. Our summer camps focus on active, hands-on learning experiences. We explore our surroundings through hikes, field notes and drawings, organized activities, art projects, and games, offering two-week and one-week sessions that include hiking, camping, backpacking, bike adventures, and more!
Observation, teamwork, and problem solving skills are developed in an exciting, fun, and creative outdoor learning environment. Children are encouraged to share their knowledge and discoveries with the group. Days are spent primarily outside with guest presenters joining us throughout the summer. Volunteers, Counselors In Training, and Junior Counselors assist the groups. Join us for Summer 2026 to celebrate 30 years of FITaos – and 30 more to come!

Youth Leadership
Here at FITaos, we take growing the next generation of outdoor educators, conservationists and leaders seriously! Our Junior Counselor and Counselor-in-Training programs offer Taos youth a chance to shine in the great outdoors as they work to support our lead instructors. Kids learn life skills – such as communications, time management, and working with others – as well as a ton of games, science, activities, and strategies for group management.
